The Dubuque Unidos Scholarship awards $1,000 to one Hispanic/Latino student within the Dubuque Tri-State area (Iowa, Wisconsin, & Illinois).
This scholarship recognizes a student who exemplifies leadership, academic achievement, and community involvement.
The Dubuque Unidos Scholarship was created to uplift, celebrate, and invest in the future of the Hispanic/Latino community within Dubuque and the surrounding tri-state area. For the purposes of this scholarship, Hispanic/Latino refers to individuals who identify with the cultures, communities, or heritage of Latin American, Spain, or other Spanish-speaking backgrounds. Hispanic/Latino identity is inclusive of individuals of all racial backgrounds.
This scholarship is intended to support a student who not only demonstrates academic success, leadership, and community involvement, while also demonstrating a connection to and appreciation for their Hispanic/Latino identity and a commitment to making a positive difference within their community. Dubuque Unidos is proud to support students as they continue their educational journey at a trade school, community college, certification program, apprenticeship, workforce development program, or four-year institution.

Applicants Must:
Identify as Hispanic/Latino
Be a current high school senior attending a high school in the Dubuque Tri-State area, defined as within a 60-mile radius of Dubuque, Iowa.
Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent)
Plan to enroll for the 2027–2028 academic year at an accredited trade school, community college, certification program, apprenticeship, workforce development program, or four-year college/university
Demonstrate leadership, school involvement, and positive contributions within their community
Eligibility is open to applicants who meet the applicable requirements, regardless of citizenship or immigration status. Please note that students holding F-1 or J-1 visas are not eligible to apply.
The Dubuque Unidos Scholarship is open to students who identify as Hispanic/Latino heritage, regardless of race.

Please submit a 750–1000 word essay responding to the following prompt:
“What does being Hispanic/Latino mean to you, and how has your identity shaped your educational journey? Describe how your experiences, culture, and community have influenced your personal growth and future goals. Additionally, explain how you hope to give back to and positively impact the Hispanic/Latino community as you continue to grow as an individual and future leader.”
